hi, i’m katie
Growing up, I was the crafty kid. always sneaking away to my room to cause a chaos of glitter & beads. I grew to love sketching & picking up the paintbrushes here & there but had never had any formal training outside of the high school art room. I thought surely art could never be a “career”… or could it?
The innate love for the arts remained, but the passion fleeted as I pursued a career in Physical Therapy after college. That was a real job I thought. As I approached my mid twenties, I realized I was severely lacking a creative outlet in my life. So I did what any creatively unfulfilled person would do, I started a side hustle. I painted oyster shells late night & early morning, selling to family, friends, & my first 200 instagram followers. Wow! Naturally I fed my own delusion early on & thought ‘this is definitely going to go somewhere’. This little side hustle of mine found it’s way to consume every free hour I had. It was addicting watching my audience numbers grow & having you guys cheer on my little passion project.
Fast forward & I still don’t truly believe how it all happened. Before I knew it I was picking up the paintbrushes for real. The beauty of life is being content with it’s uncertainty. I’m not sure where i’m headed, but I know right now I’m supposed to be here, creating & sharing every bit of the journey with all of you.
Amidst all of life’s uncertainties, the ocean has always been a place I’ve felt at home & fully grounded. My love for coastal New England has inspired it all & I have found such a special community to share the love for it with.
I hope a piece of my art will spark the same joy for you, that creating it has done for me.
xx,
katie
